The end of May I'll be speaking on my experiences on the Camino once again at Mount Saint Mary House of Prayer. In looking back at these posts, I realize that I had never written about one of the "mini-miracles"- at least for me!
Originally, CJ, Jean and I had planned to do 100 miles of the Camino. As the time drew closer, however, in the many e-mails back and forth between my sister and me, the 100 miles morphed to 100 km - unintentionally. A couple of days before we left, Jean realized we were talking about leaving from Sarria, which is only 114 km (about 71 mi), and wanted us to reconsider doing the 100 mi. instead. Having fractured my arm that previous January falling on black ice, however, and not getting in nearly the amount of training I had hoped to do, I was less than enthusiastic about what I considered a too-ambitious goal. I was glad I had done "The Work" (www.thework.org) on my fears, but I was still hoping to leave from Sarria. When we got to the train station in Madrid, Jean went ahead to book our passage to O Cebreiro only to find out the train was full! So, now what?! The one going to Sarria was available, so that's the one we booked. And, by the way, the ticket was on sale for a reduced price. Why? The ticket salesman had no idea!
